TWF 342: Sparkle On Stage At The Esplanade On Thursday, 8/17/2023, at 7:00 PM!

Hello, friends!

This is just a quick signal boost about the Long Island Arts Council and its partnership with Sparkle On Stage to put on the original musical 'Woof!'  If you're in the area and especially if the weather is good, I hope you can make it to the 7:00 PM showing at the Nautical Mile Esplanade.

The Weekly Freeporter is no longer a weekly production, but it gets broken out when a good cause can use a signal boost.  Jesse Pohlman is an author born and raised in Freeport; you can check out his sci-fi/fantasy novels and other projects here at his website.

TWF 322 - Poetry Month & Contest At Long Island Arts Council.

 Hello, friends.

April is Poetry Month for Long Island Arts Council at Freeport.  I wish I had a direct link to a page specifically dedicated to the poetry contest they're running, but that's not available at present.  What is available is information and registration for the seventh annual high school-oriented poetry contest!

I would strongly encourage any and all interested youths to apply (with parental permission, of course).  Sharing poetry is often very personal, and while it might not seem like a huge stepping stone, but I promise you that if you're poetically inclined, earlier publication credits are a positive step for your portfolio down the path.

I know, lots of alliteration, there.  If you noticed, you oughta consider entering the contest!

As for me:  I'm presently kicking back in CoVID-Positive quarantine; I'm feeling about 97% healthy, a fact which I'm crediting to my vaccination.  If you haven't already gotten yours, please do.

TWF 297: Juried Photography Contest From Long Island Arts Council At Freeport

Hello, friends!

I know that with the Coronavirus around, it's easy to get lost in scary thoughts, so here's something a little more upbeat!  As a creative person, I always try to shout out opportunities for others - in any given field - to make a little money and get a little advancement.  For example, I was recently a guest on "Ronin Uncensored" Podcast, and I'd encourage you to check it out in your leisure time.

The Long Island Arts Council at Freeport is having their Fortieth Annual Juried Photography Show (link goes to their full prospectus), with a calendar and possible winnings as repeated below:

We strongly encourage all photographers to join!  It must be wondered, however, why you have to be 20 years old to enter, and not just a legal adult?  Ah well!  It's a good contest, nonetheless!
